Bob & Shawns 77 CJ -7
Hello Everyone
Let me introduce myself, Bob and my son-in-law Shawn. We co-own a 1977 CJ-7 and have been SLO 4-
Wheelers for a couple of years. Here's how it all began---
I was invited to be a passenger on the Jeep Jamboree Rubicon Springs run in Summer 1998 and have been hooked on "rock crawlin" since then. My son in law Shawn is an auto mechanic in Los Osos so it wasn't hard to get him interested in Jeepin. He loves fixin things.
We first bought a stock 89 Wrangler and being complete novices we took it on the Jeep Jamboree in 2001 without any uprates.. We really beat the heck out of that puppy and barely made it through the Rubicon. Needless to say, we spent the next year adding things like rock rails, full roll cage, skid plates, larger tires, etc. In 2002 we again attempted the Rubicon in the 89 Wrangler and other than tipping it over in the great mud hole we somehow survived but the Jeep ended up with things broken that never shoud have, like the front seats, windshields, doors, etc.
[Picture would go here :-)]
We sold the 89 in late 2002 and bought the 77 CJ-7 that we now have. This baby has a Dana 44 front with limited slip lockers, a Currie 9" Rear with Detroits, Ramsey Winch, Lifted, 35" Mudders, On Board air, Rock Rails, Full Cage, etc. A real rock crawling machine. We took it on the Jeep jamboree in 2003 and it made it through the Rubicon in a breeze.
We decided to join SLO 4-Wheelers so we could get involved in some local runs. Our first and only run with the club was up to Hollister last year and Shawn proceeded to tip the untippable Jeep over on one of the creek wash runs. Thanks much to those members who helped us get it back on all fours.
We've been sidelined from trail riding the past few months because we couldn't get the 77 Jeep smogged. That is now behind us and we're ready to roll.
Shawn has even convinced his wife and my daughter Robin that Jeepin is OK and not as dangerous as the pictures we bring back look and we may begin to see Robin and their son Duke ( 20 months) on some of the runs.
Anyway thanks for asking all of us to give a short bio. It's great to learn more about the other members.
Bob
