1999 SLO CHRISTMAS PARADE
HOLIDAY PARADE REPORT - Judy J.
Our SLO County 4 Wheel Drive Club participated in the San Luis
Obispo Holiday Parade once again this year on Friday, December
3. We all had a great time before, during and after the parade.
We met at the Palm Street Parking lot around 6:00 to decorate
our vehicles. We were quite a spirited group with our vehicles
decorated with lights and holiday streamers. Hoods shined, wheels
were void of mud, leaves and twigs - quite a contrast to how we
look during our off-road trips.
Zak, Jackie and Matthew braved the breezy conditions carrying
our SLO 4 Wheeler Banner, while leading us through the downtown
streets of San Luis Obispo. Participating were: Al & Judy,
Dan & Glenda, Mike & Sharon, Lynn and Jane, Joe &
Joanna, Brent & Christy and family, Jim & AvaNette, Richard
& Debbie, Randy & Kathy, Ruth, Frank & Florence and
family.
After the parade, we all caravaned back to Judy & Al's
house, which is less than a mile from the end of the parade.
We were able to remove our decorations, thaw out our bones, and
share a delicious pot luck spread.
Throughout the duration of the parade, at specified intervals,
announcers provide descriptions of the different participants.
Our statement was read at least five times. For those of you
who missed the parade, or are interested to know what our club
is all about, I have included it here for you to read:

"Fordyeth Psalm Verses 1966-77" This Ford is my chariot, but I wonder why. It maketh me to lie down in muddy roads, it stalleth in deep waters. It stresseth my soul, for it be the best but the oldest of its namesake. Yea, though I ride through the Hills of the High Desert, I shall fear no trail. For my Bronco is under me. Still, thy creaks and thy groans, they discomfort me. Thy performance threatens embarrassment in the presence of mine enemies. Thy seals anointest my head with oil, thy radiator runneth over. Surely, the memory of my decision will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the poor house forever." But I wouldn't trade my Bronco for anything, I love all its quirks. Plus, even though it has broken down MANY times, it (knock on wood) has only left me stranded once when I blew the engine- other wise I have always gotten home. ---- Author unknown-Found on Todds Classic Bronco Page.
