The Idea is to provide a Sierras trip for every SLO 4-Wheeler, whether he base camps in a trailer, motor home, Pickup with a camper, or bobtail camps out the back of his 4wheeler.
The destinations would be base camp at Courtright Reservoir RV camp for the motor homes, Voyager Rock on Courtright East shore for 4WD full size pickups with campers and maybe fishing boats. On the trail camping, Dusy Meadow on the lake shore for 4wheelers that don't need to do Thompson hill and Thompson Lake for the short wheel base built rigs. Fishing at all four locations.
This trip could allow a great deal of flexibility for those not sure of their trail or rig. Lots of good places to camp when you discover your 4wheeler may not need the Thompson Hill challenge.
Could be done Friday- Monday or Friday thru Sunday
with some long days getting to Shaver Lake and returning to SLO county.

Tthe run after the meeting is a night run. We are meeting at 7.00pm at the Pozo ranger staion. Pulling out about 7.10 or 7.15 heading to Las Chicas via Turkey flats. We will stop at the top for an eveing snack or dessert. head down Las Chichas to Pozo grade road to Navajo rd. If time permits we will run Bench mark trail. and back out to Red hill rd and hiway 58.
contact Eric F. [email protected] I don't think my TJ is up for the task of Coyote Lake next weekend. Any club members that would be interested in doing an easy or moderate run on Sunday locally? I know of a good run at the the end of Huasna Road. It's mostly graded dirt with a steep, narrow, rutted portion at the end. It ends at an old WWII Observation Post (Avenales). This is the area where Agua Escondito Campground used to be. Its not too extreme and would be perfect for a picnic lunch with the family.
Several folks have expressed in this-Planned is an exploratory run Sunday -. I suggest we meet at the Arroyo Grande High School parking lot around 10 am on Sunday. That should give us plenty of time to get there before noon. I assume we will be taking a picnic lunch right? A full tank of gas will be more than sufficient.

contact Terrence. careunderfire@ charter.net One of the clubs premier runs to a beautiful primitive camp at a High Sierra lake. Some will go in Friday, some Saturday, with all coming out Sunday, (a few might spend Sunday at Red lake which is midway & come home Monday). Serious trail but doable by most (Full size rigs not reccommended) come prepared for a glorious weekend. Great wheeling-great camping/fishing hiking- group campfire at the end. Run same trail back out. There are outhouses in the camp, anything else (including TP) if you need it -bring it. Insure your rig is ready...Red Lake is half way to Coyote Lake with great camping/fishing for those who may have problems or dont want to tackle the remainder of the trail.
