Message from the Prez.As we start off the new year, it's time to think of were we are going. As most of you know we joined and donated funds to CA4WDC, Blue Ribbon and United 4-Wheel Drive. It is an excellent idea to support these groups that help us fight for our right to use trails. Please give Jim Z. a call for more info about the CA4WDC. Also United 4WD has a program that enables you to join for only 6 bucks! That's a full year! All you have to do is submit your name, address and a check made out to SLO 4-Wheelers and we add you to the clubs membership. James B. is our land use chair but since he is running the Ghost Run this year for CA4WDC, I've been back and forth to Bakersfield these past 2 weeks on the Sequoia Trail Plan. There is great news! We actually gained some new trails in the Hume Lake District!! So plan on making the Hume run this June!! Contact Will for more details. The Sequoia plan is very flexible. Meaning that there is the possibility of opening NEW trails as long as they make sense. The Forest will not construct new trails just because someone wants one. It would have to be for say...connecting 2 trails together for example. We, as a group and individually, need to support the land use cause to the max of our ability if we want to be able to continue jeep'in. Enough of that for now!! Man o' Man!! Are we growing or what!! Seems the last 2 meetings were standing room only! I want to thank everyone for their attendance and their input. Also thanks to Mark B. and Ray M. for their High-Lift jack demo. Mark had a great idea there for a show & tell. Let's see what you all can come up with for the next meeting! It's great to share techniques with each other, that's how we learn and stay safe. Also don't forget, we have Manny and Kevin from Las Padres National Forest, Santa Lucia District at the March meeting. They agreed to do a Q & A on the recent closures. Please leave the tar and feathers at home! That's it for me. You can always reach via e-mail, [email protected] or feel free to call me at home,
Happy Valentine's Day and be safe.

We couldn't have picked a prettier day! Absolutely Clear!!! We could see as far as Cayucos to Pismo Beach. We met at the Apple Farm at 9AM and /or East Cuesta Grade Gate at 9:15 AM. We expected only a few but we ended up having 17 vehicles. It was easy going, in fact, did anyone even get into 4 wheel unless to turn around?
Lots of sightseeing, visiting and then a nice visit during the tailgate picnic lunch. Most were probably off the ridge by 1PM Kathy P.
