CJ-6 Mods to date.
Application: Sierras, Rocks, High Altitude,
DesignTarget: Tow trailer & carry four people @ 70 MPH @ 10,000 ft @ 8 degree incline, 12mpg @ cruise, 4000lbs, narrow enough for Dusy trail, bullet proof frame (tired of chasing cracks with a welder), Common bullet proof power train (limited need to carry spare parts or trouble finding replacement parts). Target Phase 1 completion Date: 6-1-00
Stock CJ-6 jeep gutted
Tub: removed, blasted, derusted (Sp?), painted. Frame replaced, modified one ton dodge W300 frame, maintaining the same CJ-6 frame profile, no weld, all rivets replaced with grade eight bolts.
Suspension: Skyjacker 6" softride, DANA 60's frt & Rear. Detroit lockers in process. Engine: 304 removed, 440 Mopar (69 RT), 500ci crank, TRW forged, Rollers, Hi Torque cam, Ported & polished 906 series heads (70's NASCAR), Six-pack rods, Edelbrock performer manifold, Doug Thorley TRI-Y's, Thermoquad 900 CFM, EFI in planning stage (Phase 2). Trans: 727 One ton shorty, TCI low stall / High torque converter, TCI RV2 shift kit, Heavy duty Sprague, clutches & bands. T-Case: 205 at present, 1350 Super Joints at all yokes. 205 / 203 / 727 in design stage (4:1) (Phase 2). Tires: Boggers 35x16.5x16.5, Bart Super Truckers HD rims 12x16.5
I am making slow progress, but at least I am getting there.
Frame is complete, Engine, trans, tcase, and cross members are in and bolted in the right location.
Body tub is bolted in and next is the rear end and gas tank. After that I start wiring and detail stuff.
