Install scissor steps
Installed scissors step. I mounted track to back side of camper fold out step to shorten the distance stepping out of the camper. Gives us a bit of a landing. I also made a base (no pic) out of plywood, its a bout 6" wide a bit longer than the bottom , used 1X2 to capture step base and 2 pieces under neath to act as feet. A lot of places arent flat so this keeps it stable.Added a small set screw in mid of camper step. Keeps the steps centered & from jumping out of the track. Note this arrangement works well for us except once, camper parked with rear way high and steps stretched, we had steps slide out, camper step partially lifted and scissors steps slid out. The camper step didnt completely flip out, It had to go up to do this,and it did enough to scare the crap out of me, probably never happen again but Im going to add something to lock camper step/mount in folded up position when the scissors are on. Probably just a small slide hasp into the bumper on the side of camper step to keep it from lifting.
A lot of folks hard mount the scissor steps but we just carry them. On the road using the camper flip out step is ok and easy. Once at camp its minor putting out the step. Hard mounting there always there and you don't need a place to carry. Plus an minus to every thing huh?
